About Michael Albertyn Snr

Michael Albertyn, born on November 28, 1938, in Kimberley, hails from a heritage steeped in artistry and innovation. He is the great-grandson of Otto Landsburg, a renowned German artist, and the grandson of H.O. Jeppe, a pioneering figure in South Africa’s diamond and gold industries and a talented artist himself. Building on this legacy, Michael has achieved remarkable success throughout his career, earning recognition both locally and internationally.

His artistic journey included studies under prominent artists such as Victor Visser and W.H. Coetzer, later refining his skills at the University of Stellenbosch. Known for his realistic style, Michael has become celebrated for his masterful compositions of the Cape Winelands and evocative seascapes.

In 1995, Michael traveled extensively through the California wine country and the Hawaiian Islands, gathering inspiration and reference material for exhibitions in the United States and Europe that year. His works, characterized by their vivid realism and attention to detail, continue to captivate audiences worldwide.

Michael currently resides with his family in the Cape Province, where he draws inspiration from the region’s natural beauty, continuing to create timeless pieces that reflect his passion and skill.
