About Ina Eksteen

Ina Eksteen, no Millard was born in Gauteng in 1961. Her love for colour can be seen in her art work over the years.

She was taught by her father, Pieter Millard (Snr) from a young age. She started with formal art classes from the early 1987’s working in oils. At a later stage she explored with various art mediums and techniques and enjoyed working with acrylics and other mediums.

Ina was well-known for her expressionistic landscapes during the late 1990’s whilst painting full time for various Art dealers and Art Galleries.

She followed in the footsteps of her Father, Pieter, by giving Art Classes on the East Rand, West Rand and Pretoria over some years. She makes use of her Father’s curriculum developed over more than 30 years including her own techniques, use of colour tones from her own experience.

Ina is a familiar name amongst many households on the West Rand, East Rand, Pretoria, Cullinan, Pietersburg in Limpopo and the Rustenburg North West area. Her work is seen in households in Ft Worth, Texas in the USA, on the Gold Coast and Brisbane in Australia and in Auckland and Wellington in New Zealand.

The influence of the old masters such as Maggie Loubser and Irma Stern had a great influence on her art development. French impressionists such as Cezanne influenced her still life studies. The Dutch post-impressionist, Van Gogh is one of her favourite artists due to his bold application of colour and brush strokes. Ina have journeyed to experience the Art genres of the great masters in different European Art Galleries, amongst which included Cezanne’s work in Paris, Van Gogh’s gallery in Amsterdam, Netherlands and Monet’s famous artist’s garden and bridge in Givenchy, France.

Her latest flower studies are painted with a palette knife technique where she makes use of different colour washes, as used by the Impressionists. Her love for colour can be seen in her artwork.

During Covid-19, she started with on-line art classes to demonstrate different techniques and application. Ina is presenting art classes, workshops, and art events for nearly 2 decades.
