About Glendine

“Creating something new and real out of nothing but my imagination”  this quote describes Glendine’s motto as a full  time artist for 32 years. 

Glendine is a South African artist whose work captures the beauty of the Namib and Karoo landscapes with remarkable depth and sensitivity. Her landscapes, often inspired by crumbling homesteads, rusty windmills, and dust-laden red sunsets, offer a poignant portrayal of a land marked by both decay and resilience.

Glendine often integrates both images and words, layering her pieces with personal symbolism that communicates a unique and personal message.Her signature rich color palette is intense and vibrant, with jewel tones, intricate patterns, and touches of gold-leaf that imbue her work with a tactile and visual richness.

Having studied and taught fine art, Glendine’s work reflects both technical expertise and an emotional connection to her subjects. She currently lives and works in the Karoo, a place that has profoundly shaped both her life and her art. Her ongoing relationship with this region is reflected in her work, where the noise, silence, sun, stars, dust, and openness of the Karoo become a central theme.
