He started painting with watercolors as a medium during his school days. Additionally, he has a passion for writing and has published several books, with many more spiritual and theological works in progress. In 1981, he married Ina Eksteen, née Millard. Ina comes from a family with a strong background and drive in the arts. Over the years, he has done special commission work for galleries and clients, even experimenting with oil and acrylic as mediums.
The beautiful surroundings of Arniston and Struisbaai houses have inspired him with it’s characteristic fishing cottages that have become emblematic of his work over the last decade.
He has served as a guest artist at his wife Ina’s West Rand Art School, teaching perspective drawing and the architectural style of the fishing houses.
Since 2022, he and his wife Ina have moved to the beautiful Struisbaai in the Overberg, Western Cape enjoying the beautiful surroundings. They aim to focus more on their artwork, where he particularly wants to capture the beautiful surroundings with its characteristic fishing houses, lighthouse, and boats in the harbor on canvas.
